Greater Chinatown Community Association 華埠服務社

About US

Organization's History

Located in downtown Chinatown, New York City, the Greater Chinatown Community Association was founded as a non profit in 1972 to promote the well-being of low-income Chinese immigrant and Chinese-American adults and seniors in Chinatown, Lower East Side Manhattan, and throughout the New York City. The founding members of GCCA shared one common dedicated purpose-to improve the quality of life in the community.

Target Population

Its target population is immigrant, resident adults and seniors, who are from China, Taiwan, and other Southeast Asian Countries and speak different dialects or languages. The most common problems of this economically disadvantaged and underserved population are illiteracy and language barriers, unemployment, lack of social benefits, and poor health conditions. As a magnet for new immigrants, many clients are from other states as far as from Ohio and Florida. In unduplicated accounts, GCCA serves 500 adults and 400 seniors each year during the past eight years.
